I have over 20 years of experience in the architectural metalwork, general, and custom fabrication industries, and I have been using SolidWorks for over 15 years.
I’ve worked on a wide range of projects, including feature and escape staircases, handrails, balconies, balustrades, railings, screens, planters, garden furniture, structural steel, spiral and helical staircases, canopies, internal and external cladding, artwork, pipework, and everything in between.
SolidWorks is an incredible package that allows you to create highly detailed projects. However, its typical output is not always in the format a fabricator requires, which has caused me problems in the past.
Because Solidworks is used in a huge range of industries, it’s not specific to one, which does cause a number of repeat operations that take time to address and causes human error and ‘brain fade’.
That’s why I created Solid-Fabs.
Solid-Fabs can still be used for a huge variety of projects, but it is more closely aligned with the metalwork fabrication industry. This means fewer repetitive tasks that lead to brain fog, a flexible workflow that boosts efficiency, and more time to thoroughly check your project.
This leads to a happier designer and in turn, a happier fabricator, and client.
If you’re struggling to create SOLIDWORKS models and outputs in the way your fabricator requires, or you find yourself stuck in a never-ending modelling battle, Solid-Fabs can help.
